Psalm 12

12 ¹ לַמְנַצֵּחַ עַל־הַשְּׁמִינִית מִזְמוֹר לְדָוִד׃

2     הוֹשִׁיעָה יהוה כִּי־גָמַר חָסִיד כִּי־פַסּוּ אֱמוּנִים מִבְּנֵי אָדָם׃

3     שָׁוְא יְדַבְּרוּ אִישׁ אֶת־רֵעֵהוּ שְׂפַת חֲלָקוֹת בְּלֵב וָלֵב יְדַבֵּרוּ׃

4     יַכְרֵת יהוה כָּל־שִׂפְתֵי חֲלָקוֹת לָשׁוֹן מְדַבֶּרֶת גְּדֹלוֹת׃

5     אֲשֶׁר אָמְרוּ לִלְשֹׁנֵנוּ נַגְבִּיר שְׂפָתֵינוּ אִתָּנוּ מִי אָדוֹן לָנוּ׃

6     מִשֹּׁד עֲנִיִּים מֵאַנְקַת אֶבְיוֹנִים עַתָּה אָקוּם יֹאמַר יהוה אָשִׁית בְּיֵשַׁע יָפִיחַ לֹו׃

7     אִמֲרוֹת יהוה אֲמָרוֹת טְהֹרוֹת כֶּסֶף צָרוּף בַּעֲלִיל לָאָרֶץ מְזֻקָּק שִׁבְעָתָיִם׃

8     אַתָּה־יהוה תִּשְׁמְרֵם תִּצְּרֶנּוּ מִן־הַדּוֹר זוּ לְעוֹלָם׃                                        

9     סָבִיב רְשָׁעִים יִתְהַלָּכוּן כְּרֻם זֻלּוּת לִבְנֵי אָדָם׃

It is often hard living in our world, isn’t it?  So often we look around and see such suffering, such pain and agony that we aren’t sure what to do.  How can we ever do enough?  Some begin to doubt God in times like this.  “How can a loving God allow such pain and suffering in the world?” is such a common question today.  Yet David sees things differently.  He sees God’s flawless ways and how He is to be praised because of who He is.  David calls on God for His protection, realizing that doubting Him does little – but that in a terrible place He is our only hope.
